Happy Birthday Joba!

Joba celebrated his birthday today by notching his first career save. He came in with two runners on and two outs in the eigth inning and got Adam Lind to strike out swinging at a nasty slider in the dirt. Joba went on to pitch a 1-2-3 ninth inning, picking up a couple more strikeouts.

This kid has been on fire. Chamberlain now has 31 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings since being called up to the big leagues on August 7th. Joba has only given up one earned run in 16 appearances for a cool 0.42 ERA. The playoffs are just around the corner...all Yankees foes have been alerted.
